So it’s January the 1st,the start of a new year. Have you made your resolutions? Mine are the usual 40 something staples….lose weight, have more me time, drink less. However I know by now that resolutions are just woolly goals with no real substance, they lack focus and have no real start or end point. For me that just doesn’t work. I love structure and having a solid to goal to work towards, something that’s been sorely lacking towards the end of 2021. I already follow a plant based diet so Veganuary is covered. If you are interested in giving Veganuary a go or want some tips on giving up animal products then please feel free to join our FB group. It’s a group for anyone who is interested in changing their diet to embrace plants. We’re no staunch vegans but we’ve slowly learnt about the benefits of whole food plant based foods for both our health and the planet. Why not give it a go ?
I have set myself the goal of no booze for January. The festive period seems to have been one long Gin & Tonic and as I get older its easier to pile on the pounds and harder to lose them. When I have given up booze in the past I’ve really felt the benefits. I’m also keen to improve my running performance this year so losing those extra pounds means less to drag around
This month I’m getting back to healthy food options and although its very anal I find keeping track of what I eat with My Fitness Pal is a good way to see where those extra calories are coming from and help prevent the poor choices. It’s a bit of a faff but black and white always works for me. If I can’t see it then its easy to pretend its not there!
My other main goal for this year is to give back to the park run community and volunteer more, so today I headed off to Shipley Country Park so support the awesome NYD runners. What an inspiring bunch they were

Hopefully I’m off on a good foot for this year. I haven’t signed up for anything yet so who knows what other goals I’ll set but I am going to be kinder to myself and take strength from those inspirational people that I’m lucky enough to have met.
Let me know if you’ve got any goals for January (or beyond)
Happy 2022 folks xx
